To make the rods even stronger, they are shot peened to which also increases fatigue life. All Molnar connecting rods are fitted with highly durable premium bronze bushings for use with floating pin type pistons. Each rod set for the American Motors engines includes ARP fasteners, lubricant and installation guidelines.

I’m building a AMC 426 stroker motor and don’t want to offset grind a factory 401 AMC crank to 3.85 because I feel that a brand new 4340 crank with 3.85 stroke would be much more durable . My question for you is that I would like to know if you make the AMC stroker rods (Part Number AH6000LLB8-A) with the correct AMC offset and a 3.85 stroke crank that’ll work with those rods ? Do you have a price for a package deal for the crank and rods ?

  2. Hello Paul,

We appreciate you visiting our site and taking the time to check with us on crankshaft availability.

The AH6000LLB8-A AMC connecting rod set does have the correct offset for use in AMC blocks. They are designed for use with an offset ground OEM crankshaft which has the crank rod pins turned down to a finished diameter of 2.000 which is the small journal, small block chevy size.

Unfortunately we do not have any crankshafts for the AMC engines at this time and I am not aware of anyone making one with the specs you requested.

Thank you for your response ! I think you could sell a 426 stroker kit (crank and rods) that would work together in a 401 block if people knew for sure the they wouldn’t have any issues with them fitting properly . I really like your stroker rods but I’m worried about having another company make a crank for my application . It would really simplify this combo if a company could make a 426 stroker kit . I’m planning on getting started with this 426 stroker build soon and the crank and rods are my starting point . If you decide you want to give this some thought I could mention it on 2 AMC forums that I’m on and see if there’s more people interested . Let me know !

  4. Hey Paul,

Thank you for your input and suggestion. This will be added to our potential project list for consideration.

The majority of the requests we have received for AMC stroker cranks have been for ones with a 4.000 stroke length so the 3.850 stroke is something new for us to research.
